3. Is there another way to recertify?
You have the option to recertify by taking the HR certification exam again. To do so you must complete the application, pay the full examination fee, and take the exam in the last 24 months (HRCI) or 12 months (SHRM) prior to the end of your 3-year recertification cycle. However, if you do not pass the exam for recertification, your credential will be removed, and you will have to reapply to take the exam later. Additionally, you will not be able to pursue recertification credits should you be unsuccessful in passing the exam for recertification.
4. What happens if I don’t earn enough credits to recertify?
To maintain your credential you must earn the prescribed number of credits. After the three years, ending on the last day of your birth month, your credential will expire, and you will need to recertify by exam.
